November 05th, 201811/5/2018 October HoursHey NHSers,
Just a reminder that October hours are due this Friday (November 9th). If you still have not turned in hours from previous months, those need to get turned in! After so long, we will not accept late hours. So it is extremely important to turn your hours in on time (and in the proper month) if you want them logged. Furthermore, there are still a few events on the list that you can do this week if you are in need of hours. Also remember that 2 events are required from the NHS service sheet each semester. As always, send in pictures, and pay dues if you have not already done so. And the next meeting isn't until after thanksgiving break. Thanks everyone ! Layla Walls NHS Secretary/Historian

November 05th, 201811/5/2018 October Meeting RecapHey NHSers!
Here's what we went over at the last meeting: Hurricane Michael Donation NHS is participating in a school wide donation collection for victims of Hurricane Michael. At this point, you can give money to Ms. Perry in the name of NHS or give money as part of the Class Competition Challenge. Both end this Thursday and all proceeds will be added to the school total to give to the Education Foundation which will then be sent to Bay and Franklin County School Districts. When Ms. Perry gives the school totals, she will break up the amounts like so: Class of 2019 = $ raised... Class of 2018 = $ raised... and so on... NHS raised $--- SGA raised $--- SGA is matching all school donations up to $1 per HoCo Dance Ticket Sold. Please consider donating if you haven't, and thank you to those that donated already!! Dues Dues are now $15 if you haven't paid (until Nov. 29, when they become $20)!! I think the majority of you guys paid your dues already, so thank you for getting those in on time! If you haven't, pay to Ms. Perry or Ms. Couch! A few other reminders:

November 05th, 201811/5/2018 September Meeting Recap Hey NHSers!
Sorry this is a bit lengthy, but here are the things we went over at today's meeting: $5 Dues Today was the last day to pay $5 for dues! If you still haven't paid your dues, they are now $10 (Sep. 20-Oct. 17), and you must pay them! Pay your dues to Ms. Couch or Ms. Perry and they will give you a receipt. If you didn't immediately receive your receipt from Ms. Couch, she will tape them to her office door in her room (2-226) and you can get them any time. Dues will increase $5 each month ($15 from Oct. 18-Nov. 28 and $20 from Nov. 29-Dec. 19) and if you haven't paid your dues by December, the sponsors will assume you don't care and you will be dismissed from NHS, so pay your dues sooner than later! Clarification of Sign-Up Sheet There was a mix-up when we last spoke about the volunteer sign-up sheet during the August meeting. Every member must get four hours of community service each month, but all your hours don't have to be from the sheet. (There aren't enough events for each member to do all their events off the list, so those of you that sign up for a lot of events from the list, try out some other options so you can leave some slots for other NHS members. At the same time though, we have to make sure those events are taken care of.) You only have to do two events from the sheet each semester (two from Aug.-Dec. and two from Jan.-May), not each quarter. Sorry for the mix-up! Communication Remind As usual, you guys can receive text messages from Remind by texting @1fff9 to 469-208-6079. Twitter Our FPC NHS Twitter is up and running! Follow us @fpcnhs_ We send frequent updates, information and shoutouts to NHSers that achieve great things and provide us with photos from volunteering throughout the year! So, if you got an award or took pictures during a volunteering event this year, send us the pictures and a caption and we'll send out a tweet about you! FPC NHS Website We also have a NHS website that we keep up-to-date. Check it out! fpcnhs.weebly.com Pictures Continue to snap pictures at volunteering events throughout the year and/or even you wearing your NHS shirt and send them to the NHS officers or Ms. Perry! Your photos will be included in a tweet, the scrolling scrapbook displayed at the induction ceremony at the end of the year, the FPC NHS website and the potential NHS memory book (see 'Memory Book/Yearbook' below)! Finally, the NHS officers are considering implementing two new ideas this year to showcase what we do and what we're all about! Here's the info.: Video Along with the pictures you guys are taking, we'd like to make a video about NHS in the community to show during the induction ceremony at the end of the year (along with the scrolling scrapbook). The video would be a compilation of two "types" of video clips: (1) video clips of NHSers volunteering at events/in action and (2) video clips of NHSers reflecting on the service they did in the first clip. The first clip must be taken while the NHSer is working at the event and the second clip could either be recorded by another member at the event or by the same member in the clip later on (at home, school, etc.). Here's an example to better help explain it. Igor and Chase volunteered at the Bunnell Bonanza and helped show kids around the Kids Zone. Let's say Igor filmed Chase playing with kids during the Bonanza (that's the first clip). Igor would then pull Chase aside during or after the event (or Chase could record himself at home, school, etc. after the event if filming at the event doesn't work or they forgot) for Chase to say a few words (starting off by saying something along the lines of "Hi! I'm Chase Smith, (NHS member 2018-9), and I volunteered at the Bunnell Bonanza today.") Then go on to say a little bit about what you did exactly (I helped greeted families and helped kids play in the hay treasure hunt, encouraged them, etc.), how NHS/volunteering has changed or impacted them (I've learned the importance of volunteering, it's helped me learn how to put others first, I've gained great people skills, etc.), how they in turn think they impacted the community, any other positive thoughts (I enjoyed it and want to do it every year!), etc. Finally, Igor would send the NHS officers any pictures he took and the two video clips with a little information of where he was and what they were doing. You could film more than that, by doing before and after segments, but we mainly want the action and the reflection, so be creative, and have fun with it! Our goal is to showcase a fun visual about NHS in the community (and what is stands for) at the induction ceremony to new incoming NHSers, to show them the fun they'll have and what they're getting into by being an NHS member. We'll also post it to Twitter and may use it for other purposes too, so send us your video clips! Memory Book/Yearbook NHS is also thinking of making and selling a NHS memory book/yearbook at the end of the year. The memory book would be like a mini-yearbook and sellable version of our annual NHS scrapbook. The memory book would include the names and pictures of all NHS members, including scrapbook pictures of NHS members volunteering at events, and more! The estimated price would be about $20-30 and anyone can buy it, but it will only showcase NHS (it's NHS-exclusive)! More details are on our survey: goo.gl/sgGHDk. Please take the survey and tell us your thoughts no later than next Wednesday, Sep. 26. We want to gauge interest first to see if we should implement the idea, so let us know! And that's it for now. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, feel free to email us back! Thanks NHSers!
